Campaign Life Coalition is a Canadian national pro-life organization
working at all levels of government to secure full legal protection for
all human beings from conception to natural death. We defend the
sanctity of life against threats posed by abortion, euthanasia,
doctor-assisted suicide, eugenics, population control, and reproductive
and genetic technologies.
How Are We Organized?
We are a grassroots movement composed of people from many faiths and all
walks of life. We are a non-profit organization which depends on
volunteers and the generosity of its supporters as we receive no
government funding.
The national office acts as a link between provincial groups and
strengthens the pro-life effort by co-ordinating strategies.
The Public Affairs Office is in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
What Do We Do?
- We support all pro-life initiatives designed to change public opinion
in favour of the sacredness of life.
- We produce and distribute monthly newsletters.
- We support crisis pregnancy centres which provide help to pregnant
women.
- We support pro-life actions such as Life Chain, pickets,
demonstrations, and Show The Truth.
- We lobby for life and family at United Nations international
conferences, and inform Canadian politicians and the general public
about developments at these conferences.
- We work with young people in supporting pro-life youth by educating
them, informing them and encouraging and promoting their pro-life
activities.
How We Specialize In Political Activity
- Lobbying politicians in our federal capital, Ottawa, and provincial
capitals and constituency offices.
- Working to educate politicians not yet committed to the pro-life
cause.
- Supporting politicians who speak up for the unborn, the elderly, and
the vulnerable in our society.
- Preparing and presenting briefs to Parliament and provincial
legislatures.
- Helping pro-lifers within political parties to move their party
towards a pro-life platform.
- Encouraging pro-life supporters to run for municipal office, school
boards, and higher public office.
- Working at the provincial and federal levels to stop public funding of
abortion, both in Canada and by Canadian agencies in the developing
countries.
Election Campaign Activities
- Working within each party to nominate pro-life candidates who share
our values.
- Identifying candidates who are pro-life and advertising their names as
pro-life supporters.
- Mobilizing supporters across the country to help pro-life candidates.
- Leafleting door-to-door, canvassing, phoning - especially in swing
ridings.
How Will Pro-life Efforts Succeed?
Respect for human life will be restored only through a four-fold
campaign:
1. Support for Pregnant Women - Both mother and baby need community
support.
2. Influencing Public Opinion - The public needs to know the facts
about abortion and its ramifications. People should be educated about
the development of the unborn child and the nature of euthanasia. They
should be informed about programs being pushed by the United Nations
that are dangerous to life and family.
3. Political Action - By giving dignity and value to every person, we
hope to change the minds and hearts of people, as we work to encourage
our elected officials to restore full legal protection for all human
life.
4. Spiritual Action - The attacks against life and family are real and
the culture of death is heavily entrenched in our institutions. With
this in mind, we encourage prayer and reliance upon God, which is so
essential in our pro-life work.
